One of the best parts of my job is that I am constantly meeting new people. As a marketing initiative and an effort to introduce Broadway Skin & Body Retreat to the community, we launched promotions via Living Social and Groupon offering subscribers our luxurious spa treatments at a fraction of the price. This was the perfect way to lure local spa goers to our haven where they fall in love with the services and the soothing ambiance. 🙂 Between redeeming Living Social and Groupon vouchers along with visits from our Broadway Retreat “regulars”, I have found that I am frequently asked the same questions from various clients. I thought I would share these FAQs.
“How long has your spa been open?”
We had a soft launch in July of 2010 while I was still employed here. Therefore I was only available for services on the weekends and in the evenings. In November of 2010 I was able to leave my full time job and run the spa full time.
“Do you live at the spa too?”
Because the spa resides in a formerly residential house, it makes sense that people might assume that it serves as a live/work space. As much as I would love to live in a day spa, I do not live there. It is strictly a day spa only.
“Did you do all the remodeling in the spa?”
The house had been remodeled and commercially zoned about two years before we began Broadway Retreat. It so perfectly fit the needs of a day spa and I knew instantly this would be my new office. 🙂 All we had to do was decorate.
“How did you come up with the name of your spa?”
My mother and I brainstormed for years on the perfect name for our spa. Always throwing new ideas on the table and constantly changing our minds, once we decided on the location, we discovered we liked the sound of the street it resides on: Broadway. We went with a literal and to the point name for our new business, Broadway Skin & Body Retreat.
“Do you offer other treatments besides facials?”
While our Signature Facials are taking New Mexicans by storm, 🙂 we also offer a plethora of other skin and body services. We provide massage, salt glows, spray tanning, waxing, make-up application, pregnancy treatments, men’s treatments, chemical peels, chocolate treatments and more. Browse our unique and soothing spa services here.
“How did you decide to open a day spa?”
I received my Eshthetician’s license in 2003 from here, the same year I began my undergraduate career at UNM. I knew I wanted to open a day spa eventually but I also wanted to explore a career in public relations. I figured it would be to my benefit to have knowledge in both fields once I moved forward with starting a business. I had a couple of jobs in the marketing industry once I graduated from UNM in 2007, but I soon realized that I was ready to pursue my dream job of being my own boss and returning to my Esthetic roots. So, with the love and support of my family and friends, Broadway Retreat became a successful reality in 2010.
“What skincare products do you use? ”
We proudly carry Image Skincare products. Learn about how this innovative skincare company began here.
“Do you ever get tired of listening to spa music all day long?”
YES! While I love typical spa music like nature sounds and soothing instrumentals, there is a point where I wish I could trade it out for something a little more upbeat. However, I have discovered some alternatives to this mundane music matter. I frequently play the musical tunes of Esperanza Spalding. This winner of the 2011 Grammy for Best New Artist is an extremely talented jazz singer whose voice is smooth and calming. The perfect substitute for the usual classical music. My other choice for switching up my spa music selections is my personal favorite artist, the late Eva Cassidy. Potentially the best voice I’ve ever heard, Eva covers classic songs like Imagine, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Fields of gold, Woodstock, At Last, and more. She puts her own mellow, bluesy spin on these well known songs with her captivating and peaceful voice.
Got a question? Just ask! 🙂
